Grand jury puts brakes on alleged meth hauler

KINGMAN - A truck driver who was initially arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and later charged with having about $900,000 worth of methamphetamine was indicted by the Mohave County Grand Jury on Thursday.

Javier Gaytan, 28, of Los Angeles was taken into custody at about 6:15 p.m. March 28 after officers with the Arizona Department of Transportation learned of a failure to appear misdemeanor warrant for a false logbook citation.

ADOT officers inspected the load and allegedly found the methamphetamine. Kingman Police spokeswoman Jennifer Sochocki said detectives with the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team, which assisted ADOT, estimated the street value of the haul at $900,000.

Gaytan faces a count of transportation of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs for sale (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine).

Judge Kenneth Gregory will arraign him at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the jail. Judge Rick Williams was assigned the case.

Gregory will conduct arraignments at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the jail unless otherwise noted. The grand jury also indicted:

• Randolph C. Letcher Jr.: Owning or operating a chop shop, first-degree trafficking in stolen property, theft of means of transportation, theft, possession of dangerous drugs (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine).

• Robert Daniel Lapeer: Possession of dangerous drugs (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and two counts of misconduct involving weapons.

Judge Derek Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Bill Logovill Falo: Second-degree money laundering and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Judge Steven Conn was assigned the case.

• Jarrett Kyle Doheny: Three counts of sale of narcotics, possession of narcotics for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. April 25.

• Zachary Paul Albers: Sale or transfer of narcotics.

Williams will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

• Jace Christopher White: Possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Conn will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

• Victor Daniel Carrillo: Aggravated assault by domestic violence.

Carlisle will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

• Robert Boyd Slater: Child abuse by domestic violence and two counts of aggravated assault by domestic violence.

Williams will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

• Chi Keung Tang: Two counts of aggravated DUI.

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Billy Joe Lowman: Misconduct involving weapons, possession of dangerous drugs (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine) and first-degree failure to appear.

Williams was assigned the case.

• Dennis Anthony Campos: Two counts of aggravated DUI and two counts of aggravated DUI as a third offense in the preceding 84 months.

Williams will arraign him at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

• Brandi J. Feilen, James Robert Porteous III and Matthew Aaron Thompson: First-degree criminal trespass, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine).

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Leah Elaine Gilstrap: Possession of narcotics for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine).

Carlisle will arraign her at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

• Cora Jane LeFevre: Possession of dangerous drugs for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine).

Carlisle was assigned the case.

• Jorge E. Basurto-Garibay: Second-degree burglary and theft.

Carlisle will arraign him at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

• David Kyle Keatley: Two counts of aggravated harassment by domestic violence.

Conn was assigned the case.
