Pictured above are several KASRA members standing behind a display of the many school supplies donated to the annual School Supply Drive by KASRA. Members met July 22 at the Garlic Glove for a luncheon, meeting and program. Several business items were discussed, including plans for our annual Ditch Day/Potluck Membership Drive, our participation in the Andy Devine Days Parade and the selection of a nominating committee. A slate of new officers for 2015-17 must be presented in October in order for the official vote to take place at our December meeting. Alysha Tribbett entertained us with anecdotes regarding her and fiancé Adam Schneider's recent archeological expedition in Istanbul, Turkey. She explained how welcoming the citizens are, how they advertise in advance planned protests when there is a political dispute, and then clean up the area by the next morning, and how one should bargain at the bazaar with a long hand shake that is only broken when a final price of the merchandise is settled on. KASRA's next meeting will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Sept.16 at member Tommie Upton's Hidden Pines Bed and Breakfast. KASRA members are asked to invite a recent school retiree to join us for a fun and tasty potluck brunch. For more information, call Paul Tribbett at (928) 753-6481.
