KINGMAN - A Kingman man was arrested on child abuse charges Monday morning after Mohave County Sheriff's detectives responded to Kingman Regional Medical Center regarding a toddler who suffered burns to her hand.

The 2-year-old girl's father, Charles Anthony Spicer, 23, reportedly told detectives he was attempting to potty train the girl and that she had an accident while washing her pants.

A short time later, he said she began to complain about pain in her hand.

While Spicer's roommates reportedly told detectives the girl screamed and that she required immediate medical attention, her father dropped her off at daycare Monday morning, telling employees she suffered a burn. The employees called for an ambulance and paramedics took the girl to KRMC, where doctors determined she sustained second-degree burns.

Detectives reportedly checked the water temperature at the home, which they claim registered 140 degrees.

Spicer was charged with felony child abuse.
