Letter of thanks: MIKID leader proud of Kingman

A BIG thank you to the Kingman/Golden Valley community! Mentally Ill Kids In Distress (MIKID) just completed our 7th annual Turkey Wars fundraiser. We were able to provide Thanksgiving food boxes to 46 families in our area who are raising special needs children. Because we were so successful, we will be able to provide Christmas food boxes as well.

Our sincere thanks to Fire Union 4191 which includes Golden Valley, Kingman and NACFD firefighters. Your enthusiasm to wear decorated aprons, wait tables and engage with customers creates a fun-filled event that allows us to support the children and families during the holidays.

Thank you to Denny's restaurant for hosting the event and for all the support and assistance you provide year after year. Thank you to the Denny's employees, for all the extra work you put into helping us. Thank you to all the Denny's customers. Because of your generosity, we were successful.

Thank you to Walmart and Home Depot for giving us price cuts to allow us to get the most for our money. Thank you to the Avi Resort and Casino for the great raffle prize and thank you to Design Line Graphics for all the posters and T-shirts.

MIKID is a non-profit agency and all the money raised goes directly to purchasing food for the holiday boxes. The families not only receive a food box but also know that their community cares, which makes the entire event all that more heartfelt. We live in a small community and each and every year I am so touched by the compassionate people that take part in this fundraiser. I couldn't be more proud to call this community home.
