General plan meetings on managing growth in unincorporated areas set

KINGMAN - Mohave County residents can offer input on how unincorporated areas will grow over the next 10 to 20 years at two general plan review meetings in Kingman next month.

The first meeting is at 1 p.m. Jan. 6 in the Mohave County Public Works Turquoise Room, 3715 Sunshine Dr. The second meeting on Jan. 20 is at the same place.

Additional workshops will be held in Lake Havasu City, Mohave Valley and the Littlefield-Beaver Dam area.

The general plan is an adopted policy document guiding Mohave County's Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Supervisors on decisions regarding growth and development. It is anticipated to be completed by late 2015.

Public participation throughout the entire review process is a priority. All public comments for changes and modifications will be considered by the planning and zoning commission.

The review will take into consideration today's economic and planning challenges and include future planning visions with attainable goals.

The plan will make necessary revisions to statistical data including population, housing cost, employment figures, new construction and building permits.

Comments on the general plan can also be submitted through the general plan website at www.mohavecounty.us.
