Winter's holiday grip on Kingman to stay tight

KINGMAN - The latest cold snap that has gripped the Kingman area the last few days looks like it will continue through the New Year, possibly bringing Kingman some snow on New Years Eve.

Temperatures will be well below freezing at night throughout the week, with lows on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day dropping down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Highs during the week will hover in the 40s during the afternoons.

A 40 percent chance of snow is forecast for New Year's Eve, with the high on New Year's Day at only 36 degrees.

The National Weather Service out of Las Vegas has also issued a hard freeze warning on Saturday and continuing through 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Residents are encouraged to wrap, drain, or allow their outdoor pipes to drip slowly to prevent them from bursting.
