Robert August Patelke Jr. was born in Chicago on Sept. 28, 1943. He died suddenly, but peacefully, on Oct. 15, 2013, at his home in Truxton.
Rob was the oldest of five children born to Robert (Sr.) and Elizabeth Boyer Patelke, both of Chicago.
He grew up in Lake Bluff, Ill., attending local schools and the University of Illinois at Navy Pier. He worked for a while at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Later he moved to Sheridan, Wyo., where he lived for several years. He eventually moved to Arizona, living for a while in Seligman, and finally in Truxton.
Rob was a kind and gentle soul with an analytical mind. He was an excellent guitar player who also loved animals, reading, being outdoors and math problems.
An avid photographer, he created an amazing photo collection over the years.
His parents and his brother Richard precede him in death. Rob is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Patelke (Robert Hemmer) of Oakland, Calif., and Mary Anne Koeller (John) of Duluth, Minn.; his brother, David Patelke (Dawn) of Knoxville, Tenn.; and sister-in-law, Marsha Patelke, also of Duluth. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
His family also thanks Kathy, Daniel and Gene for their friendship and support.
