Sounds of Kingman recently announced their new nonprofit 501(c) status, as well as their incorporation as a nonprofit Arizona corporation, both achieved in 2013. The group was organized in early 2010 and adopted the mission of presenting live performances for the community to enjoy, with the goal of encouraging an appreciation of live performances. In October of 2013, Sounds completed its third season of Concerts in the Park. Also in October, Sounds of Kingman co-sponsored "The Harvey Girls of the Southwest" as part of Smithsonian Journey Stories. All performances have been offered to the public at no charge. Sounds has posted the summer 2014 schedule for Concerts in the Park on its website, www.soundsofkingman.com. Additionally, they are now in the planning stage for a new project. In cooperation with the city of Kingman Parks and Recreation Dept., Sounds is working to enlarge and modernize the stage at Metcalfe Park. Upon completion, the improved stage will be available to the entire community. A community-wide fundraising project is planned. If you want to be notified by email of upcoming live performances, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
