KINGMAN - Bradshaw Mountain controlled the pitch and handed the Kingman High girls soccer team an AIA Division II Section 5 loss Tuesday at KHS, 4-1.
Bradshaw Mountain (1-3 S-5, 5-7 D-II) put up 17 shots on goal in the first half to Kingman's one and led at intermission, 3-0.
Paulina Delgado put Kingman (0-3, 2-8) on the board on a goal assisted by Brooklyn Ness to open the second half. The Bears answered 17-1/2 minutes later for the final tally.
The Lady Bulldogs host Coconino (1-0, 5-2-1) at 6 p.m. Friday.
Bradshaw Mountain nips Bulldogs, 4-3
KINGMAN - Bradshaw Mountain broke open a close first half with three goals toward the end and hung on to beat the Kingman High boys soccer team Tuesday in Prescott Valley in an AIA Division II Section 5 match, 4-3.
Kingman (0-3, S-5, 7-4 D-II) stormed back in the second half. Jay McNiven got the Bulldogs on the board and was followed by Bjorn Porlein's penalty-kick goal. Taylor nailed an 18-yard free kick to tie the match, 3-3.
Bradshaw Mountain (2-2, 4-5) scored the match's final goal to secure the win.
The loss knocks the Bulldogs out of contention for the Section 5 championship. Kingman tries to revenge an earlier loss when they play Coconino (2-0, 7-2) at 3 p.m. Friday in Flagstaff.
Tigers win 20th game
KINGMAN - Though the Kingman Academy boys basketball team led by only three points at the end of the first quarter, the Tigers got busy in the second and third quarters to finish off Seligman in a non-section game Tuesday at KAHS, 56-37.
Kingman Academy (11-0 Division III, 20-6) used 11 different scorers in the win over the Antelopes. Ben Leader led the Tigers with 15 points, making three 3-pointers and shooting 3-for-3 from inside the arc.
Seligman (4-4 D-IV, 7-8) trailed 15-12 at the end of the first quarter, but Kingman Academy increased the lead at the half, 31-20. The Tigers led by 21 at the end of the third quarter, 48-27.
Austin Tomlinson and Lance Martin finished with seven points each, and Martin also pulled down 10 rebounds. Robby Glass, Caleb Boyett and Tarik Skubal all added five points. Cody Quick finished with four, and Henry Chinyere, Will Herbine, Chris Pfeiffer and Breyden Potter each contributed two. Potter hauled in 10 rebounds as well.
Kingman Academy hosted Tonopah Valley (0-3, 7-4) in a D-III, Section 2 game Wednesday. Results were not available by deadline.
