KINGMAN - McGregor Octave and Anastasia Lynch hit provisional standards for the Lee Williams High track team at the Bourgade Catholic Invitational last Saturday in Phoenix.
The Volunteers' boys team finished in seventh place out of 20 squads, and the girls team came in 15th place out of 18 squads. In the boys meet, Desert Edge won with 228 points and Lee Williams finished with 66. For the girls, it was Youngker winning with 233 points, and the Lady Vols ended with 14 points.
Brendon Allred won the 3,200 meters in 10 minutes 39.61 seconds. Allred also placed seventh in the 1,600 at 5:00.14. The Vols' only other first-place finish came from Giancarlo Narvarte. He won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 8 inches.
McGregor Octave came in third place in the triple jump and fourth place in the long jump. His triple jump of 38-01.75 beat the state meet provisional standard of 38-0.
If not enough athletes hit the qualifying marks for state, the AIA selects athletes from the provisional list.
Octave leapt 18-01 in the long jump.
On the girls' side, Anastasia Lynch's discus throw of 89-01 met provisional standards and gave her a fifth-place finish. Megan Barnes came in sixth in the 400 with a time of 1:07.82. Marli Lauck was ninth with her triple jump of 28-08.
The Volunteers next compete at the Lake Havasu Rotary Invitational on Saturday.
