Letter: Found: The ideal toilet paper holder

A good share of what I read in the comments page consists of complaints about local businesses, negative comments about the school system or political issues, but I would like to add my two cents' worth of positive feedback on a subject that I am sure must touch everyone and will stimulate thought each and every time they visit the situation from this day forward.

Toilet paper! To be exact, toilet paper holders in public restrooms. I know that businesses have gone to a lot of expense to remodel their bathrooms for the benefit of those poor folks with disabilities. I applaud them for that. However, I think that there may have been a miscalculation in the design of toilet paper holders installed in these publicly shared areas, the bottom of which are from 1 foot to 16 inches off the floor. Now since I am not disabled (except for a possible mental issue), it is difficult for me to see how this can be of benefit to anyone. I can only speak from my own experience, but it seems that nearly standing on one's head while seated on the toilet could only be a disadvantage to anyone, and possibly even a hazard.

I can see the headlines now: "Man killed while attempting to find the end of the toilet paper in public restroom." Attempt was evidently unsuccessful.

Due to seeing this issue as a problem, I have been on a quest for years to find a public restroom with a well-positioned toilet paper holder. I must now report that after an exhaustive search and thousands of disappointments, I have found the perfectly positioned toilet paper holder in a Mexican/American restaurant in Golden Valley. They not only serve excellent food and provide good service at a fair price, but the toilet paper holder in the men's restroom is positioned perfectly. It is accessible even to a seated person 3 feet tall or one 7 feet tall. I cannot report on the ladies room holder, since I have not personally checked it out, but it is reported to be satisfactory as well.

This is an example of attention to detail. After reading this, you will all become more aware of this problem each time you visit a public restroom. Thank you for the opportunity to report these important findings.
