Allred 14th, Skankey 50th at state

KINGMAN - Lee Williams High School junior Brendon Allred ran the 3.1-mile AIA Division III Cross Country State Championship trail at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix Saturday in 17 minutes, 4.6 seconds to finish in 14th place.

There were 170 runners in the race, and Allred was the only Volunteer.

Allred's first mile was timed at 5:13. He ran a 5:33 over Mile 2 and 6:17 for the final 1.1 mile.

Rio Rico's Carlos Villarreal won the D-III individual state championship in 15:24.

Freshman Sam Skankey finished 50th in the D-IV state championship for Kingman Academy High. There were 183 runners in that race.

Skankey ran the first mile in 5 minutes, 46 seconds. His second mile was completed in 5:51 and his total race time for the 3.1-mile course was 18:04.

Pinon's Joe Androno won the individual state championship in 16:24, according to sportsstats.ca.

Skankey was the Academy's sole representative at the state meet.
