Poachers leave two deer to rot

$750 reward offered; crime took place SE of Kingman

KINGMAN - A reward has been offered in the poaching of two mule deer bucks southeast of Kingman in hunt Unit 16A.

The pair was shot off Blake Ranch Road on the Cane Springs Ranch sometime between Nov. 17 and Nov. 19, according to Zen Mocarski, the public information officer for the Arizona Department of Game and Fish Region 3 office in Kingman.

There were left to waste, said Mocarski. Operation Game Thief posted a reward up to $750 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the crime.

"It is important to remember this is not the act of a hunter," said Mocarski. "Poaching is a crime. We are looking for additional information and ask anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward. The eyes and ears of the public are critically important in bringing poachers to justice."

Body hidden

Mocarski said the investigating officer originally believed only one buck had been poached. He didn't discover the second until he returned the next day and found it hidden in tall grass.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Operation Game Thief hotline at (800) 352-0700 or go online to www.azgfd.gov/thief. Refer to case number 14-003583.
