DOLAN SPRINGS - An alert motorist helped end a violent altercation between a Dolan Springs man and his fiancée Saturday afternoon.
The caller told dispatchers she witnessed a man beating a woman while driving a gold Chevrolet SUV on northbound U.S. 93 just past the Highway 68 junction at about 4:25 p.m. The caller said the woman was covered in blood, according to Mohave County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trish Carter.
Deputies and officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety stopped the vehicle on U.S. 93 at milepost 54 and detained Davie Kuihana Ahuna, 30.
Deputies, said Carter, noticed the 25-year-old woman was covered in blood with multiple injuries to her face and head - and a stab wound to one of her legs.
The woman reportedly told deputies Ahuna attacked her when she tried to break off their engagement. She said Ahuna repeatedly struck her and kept her from leaving the car.
"The victim reported that she was knocked out several times while he was punching her in the face," said Carter. Ahuna also allegedly stabbed her in the leg and threatened to kill her.
The woman was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center. Ahuna reportedly told deputies the woman was injured in a fall.
He was taken into custody and faces two charges of aggravated assault - causing injury by domestic violence, aggravated assault - deadly weapon by domestic violence, aggravated assault - bound or restrained by domestic violence and kidnapping per domestic violence, all felonies.
