Sofia Depner earns two wins for KAHS swim

LWHS' Chase Williams takes first at Elephant Rock Golf Course

KINGMAN - Sofia Depner finished first in the 200-meter individual medley and the 500 freestyle for Kingman Academy at Thursday's three-team meet in Bullhead City.

Mohave swept the meet, winning the boys and girls events. The Academy girls finished second ahead of River Valley, and the boys were third behind the Dust Devils.

Victoria Depner added a second-place finish for the Lady Tigers, swimming the 50 freestyle in 32.62 seconds, 2.04 off the pace.

The boys didn't post a win but did garner three runner-up spots. Jake Miyauchi finished second in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Though he didn't race in the 500 freestyle, Miyauchi recorded a provisional time previously in the event for the state championship.

Joel Harnisch swam the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 56.63 seconds, to earn second-place points for the Tigers.

Williams wins in Williams

Lee Williams' Chase Williams shot a 3-over-par 39 to win Thursday's individual match at Elephant Rocks Golf Course in Williams.

Coconino won the team event, besting the Volunteers by two strokes, 163-165. Kingman finished third with a 215.

Williams, teammate Corey Smith finished tied for second with a 40. Richard Serrano and Savion Levrets tied for seventh with 43s.

Kingman's Derek Jones led the Bulldogs with a 45, taking 10th place.
