Kingman Academy strands nine against bumbling Wolves

KINGMAN - Kingman Academy couldn't take advantage of eight Estrella Foothills errors Wednesday in Goodyear, losing 8-4 to the Wolves in the Division III, Section II game.

Academy (3-4, 2-2) left a total of nine runners on base, including five in scoring position. Another two runners were thrown out at the plate as the Lady Tigers lost their third consecutive game.

Estrella (5-3, 2-2) put up five runs - two in the second inning and three in the third - before Academy could get on the board.

The Lady Tigers' Dakota Parker scored in the fourth when Kassidy Campbell was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Academy's Jillian Winters scored in the fifth on one of the Estrella errors. The Lady Tigers got two in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Parker that scored Winters, and Kiersten Kinsey crossed the plate on an error.

Winters and Kinsey each had two of Academy's five hits, and Kylie Tomlinson picked up the other.

Jessica Plew picked up the loss for the Lady Tigers, pitching a complete game. She gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and walked four in seven innings of work. Plew struck out one.

Academy hosts Bagdad (4-1 D-IV) in non-section action at 4 p.m. today on Field 1 at Southside Park.
