KINGMAN - A Kingman man who allegedly punched his girlfriend and one of the Mohave County Sheriff's deputies who responded to her 911 call April 20 was indicted on two felony counts of aggravated assault when the Mohave County Grand Jury convened last week.

Jason Allen Campbell, 33, was reportedly intoxicated when he started screaming at the woman, 29, who met deputies outside of a home in the 1500 block of College Drive at about 11 p.m. She reported Campbell pushed her and then punched her.

And Campbell was apparently still in a violent mood. He allegedly threatened to turn a dog on deputies before he charged one of them. Campbell, according to sheriff's office spokeswoman Trish Carter, was hit with pepper spray, but still managed to slug a deputy before he was taken into custody.

The threat of the dog was apparently a ruse.

This is not Campbell's first time in trouble. He has twice been sentenced to Arizona State Prison on convictions involving drugs and weapons, according to court records.

Another noteworthy indictment involves Benjamin Leigh Hoaglin, who allegedly attempted to escape from Mohave County jail detention officers who were transporting Hoaglin and several other inmates to hearings at Mohave County Superior Court April 10.

Hoaglin has been jailed since early March after he was charged and later indicted on counts of sexual assault, manufacturing methamphetamine and other crimes.

Judge Billy Sipe was assigned both cases. Campbell and Hoaglin will be arraigned on their respective cases at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mohave County jail, where all arraignments will be held unless otherwise noted.
