KINGMAN - The Mohave County Grand Jury last week indicted accused murderer Joshua Matthew McCoy, 28, who allegedly used a hatchet to kill a 61-year-old man July 28, on one count of first-degree murder and abandonment of a dead body.

McCoy's girlfriend called Kingman Police to report the man, identified as Gregory Thomas Godsil, a transient, was killed during a fight at the couple's home in the 3100 block of Prescott Street. Detectives obtained a search warrant and say they found Godsil's body encased in plastic in the garage.

McCoy reportedly told deputies he was in the process of digging a hole in his backyard in which to bury the man. The couple reportedly agreed to let Godsil stay at their home after he was kicked out of a local homeless shelter.

The fight allegedly was the result of McCoy asking the man to leave and McCoy is suspected of picking up a hatchet and striking the man several times. The Mohave County Medical Examiner determined he died of multiple sharp force injuries to his head.

Judge Lee Jantzen will arraign McCoy at 8:30 a.m. today.
