KINGMAN - OK, OK, it's not a falling star.
It's a meteor, part of the annual Perseid Meteor Shower that's going on through Aug. 24.
While it was expected to peak from Tuesday through Thursday, today's new moon should offer good viewing conditions, depending on cloud cover.
This photo was taken just off U.S. 93 heading toward Phoenix, two miles south of I-40.
During a time-lapse exposure, the camera shutter happened to close at the peak of the meteor's burnout. Many images of meteors just appear as a solid streak across photos.
