Kingman Cancer Care Unit seeks sponsors for walk

Event a key fundraiser for organization

KINGMAN - Kingman Cancer Care Unit is seeking business sponsorships for its 5th annual "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes" fundraising event on Oct. 3.

Cancer survivors, patients, family and friends are invited to participate in the walk that starts at 10 a.m. with speakers and a balloon release at the Bonelli House, 430 E. Spring St., and ends at Rednecks Southern Pit BBQ.

The walk winds through downtown Kingman, with a map that provides information about historical buildings and landmarks along the way.

"Get to know a little about the history of the community we are all fighting to support," said Erin Cochran, one of the event organizers.

The $30 registration fee includes a commemorative T-shirt, goodie bag from local businesses and brunch at Rednecks BBQ. A drawing for prizes and a silent auction will be held during the brunch.

The walker who raises the most money will win a prize.

Kingman Cancer Care Unit is run entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds from the fundraiser walk will be used to help Kingman area cancer patients.

Businesses that donate $100 or more will have their logos on the T-shirts, while those that donate $300 or more will have their logos on T-shirts and advertised on promotional materials and banners displayed during the walk.
