Letter of thanks: MIKIDs live in amazing community

The 8th Annual Turkey Wars was a huge success with turkey spins, raffles, pie auctions and a lot of fun!

Mentally Ill Kids in Distress (MIKID) thanks Denny's Restaurant and ALL the employees for their hard work and commitment to this yearly event. Our local Denny's truly embraces the art of giving back to their community. The Golden Valley and Kingman firefighters, real heroes, men whose careers involve them risking their lives to help families, donated their time to again help families in need. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

This year the Police Explorers joined in on the fun. It was nice to have the participation of these goal-driven youth. Thank you also to the Special Education department of the Kingman School District for the donations of the beautiful gift baskets for the raffle.

Arizona Signs for the banner - you guys are amazing. Walmart for the discounts as you enabled us to get the most for our money.

Lastly, to all the customers who came out to support our cause. Our small community really is amazing.

With the assistance of all of you, MIKID was able to provide Thanksgiving food boxes to local families in need. These families are all raising special needs children, so along with providing needed food, they were provided with the knowledge that their community values and cares about them.

Participating in this three-day event is a lot of fun, but the true joy comes when handing the box to a family. The big smiles and sometimes tears of joy is that part of the big thank you that is so hard to express in words. My sincere hope is that I have somehow conveyed this feeling.
