KINGMAN - Two Safeway stores on Stockton Hill Road will retain their name while 10 other Safeway stores in Arizona will be rebranded as Haggen stores, a spokesman for Haggen told the Daily Miner Monday.
The Federal Trade Commission ordered the sale of some Safeway stores as part of the $8 billion merger of Albertsons and Safeway, which was announced Friday.
Haggen, a Pacific Northwest company with 18 stores in Oregon and Washington, acquired 146 Vons, Pavilions, Albertsons and Safeway stores as part of the merger.
These stores, including 83 in California, 10 in Arizona and seven in Nevada, will be retagged and reopened as Haggen.
In Arizona, Haggen will have three stores in Tucson; two in Scottsdale; and one each in Anthem, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Flagstaff and Lake Havasu City.
Advertising campaigns will be launched in those markets during the first half of the year using television, radio, outdoor, print and digital media.
