2015 javelina contest remains tight

KINGMAN - The youth javelina hunts have ended and congratulations to all those young hunters who got a pig on these hunts. I heard that Christian Overhulser bagged a good pig in Unit 18B while hunting with his uncle, Ryan Chan.

The pig weighed (field dressed) 37 pounds, 10 ounces, and is in second place in the Arizona Wildlife Outfitters Big Pig contest for 2015. Last year the young hunter took a huge boar that weighed 42 pounds, 2 ounces and won third place in the annual contest.

Laura Borden is still in first place with a boar that weighed 37 pounds, 14 ounces, but with the handgun-archery-muzzleloader and rifle seasons opening, it will be interesting to see if she can stay atop the leader board.
