Radio Shack in Kingman won't close, owner says

Bullhead City store will be shut down

KINGMAN - The president of Computer King Inc. in St. George, Utah, said Friday he is closing the company's Radio Shack franchise store in Bullhead City on March 1, and will continue to operate the store at 3145 N. Stockton Hill Road as Radio Shack.

"Those decisions have not been made by anybody," Lyle Richins said in response to previous reports that the Kingman store would close.

Richins would provide no further information on the status of employees or future plans for the stores.

Attempts by the Daily Miner to contact Richins at Computer King earlier last week were unsuccessful.

Radio Shack announced in early February it would close 1,700 corporate stores nationwide and sell up 2,400 stores to Sprint. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization on Feb. 5.
