'Bosses' sequel sticks to familiar territory

Horrible Bosses 2 (2014) - Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Aniston

Dale, Kurt and Nick decide to start their own business, but things don't go as planned because of a slick investor, prompting the trio to pull off a harebrained and misguided kidnapping scheme (IMDb). The first one was a surprising success, and this oddball comedy doesn't stray far from that formula.

Big Hero 6 (2014) Scott Adist, Ryan Potter, Daniel Henney

A special bond develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes (IMDb).

Video Games

Dragon Ball XenoVerse (X360, XONE, PS3, PS4, PC)

Fans of Street Fighter are well aware that the fighting games set in the Dragon Ball universe offer the same robust fighting engine with its own flair. This game looks to promise the same, with players able to control many of the characters from Dragon Ball and duke it out in environments from the show. Dragon Ball XenoVerse looks to add on to that formula by allowing players to create their own characters in the universe and participate in some new story arcs not seen in the show.

There Came an Echo (XONE, PS4, PC)

This indie game, crowd funded on Kickstarter in 2013, is being marketed as a real time strategy squad-based game where players control a group of soldiers primarily using voice commands. The concept is a bit touchy for many gamers, who know that voice recognition can be inconsistent and laggy: both detrimental to gameplay. Early demos are showing that Iridium Studios (the developer) have put a ton of work in tweaking that facet of gameplay, and it looks very smooth so far.

After Ever Happy - Anna Todd (592 pages)

What started as One Direction fan fiction on the website Wattpad, the "After" series from Anna Todd has turned into a wildly popular franchise, including a four book series from Simon & Schuster and a film deal from Paramount Pictures. This is the fourth and final book of the series, where readers can discover the fate of Tessa and Hardin.

Girl in a Band - Kim Gordon (288 pages)

Kim Gordon, founding member of Sonic Youth, fashion icon, and role model for a generation of women, now tells her story - a memoir of life as an artist, of music, marriage, motherhood, independence, and as one of the first women of rock and roll, written with the lyricism and haunting beauty of Patti Smith's Just Kids (Goodreads.com).

Prodigal Son - Danielle Steel (336 pages)

Twin boys grow up in the same family, in the same town. Dramatically different, they become bitter enemies, even as children. One leaves his peaceful hometown, but when all else fails, the prodigal son returns, 20 years later, moving into his parents' lakeside cottage. But the reunion of the brothers, sweet and healing at first, exposes shattering revelations... (Goodreads.com).
