Helen Mae Holman-Harpham, a loving and dedicated mother and 45-year resident of Kingman, passed peacefully Feb. 19, 2015, under the care of Richard and Susan Scherzer. She was born Nov. 3, 1926, to Alfred and Clara Yankee in Michigan. Helen graduated from Melvindale High School in 1944 and from the Business Institute of Detroit in 1945. She also attended Sun Bright Jr. Nurse Corp.
Helen's life journey was truly inspiring. She was the definition of courage, perseverance and strength, approaching life with grace and eloquence. She was a beautiful and amazing Christian woman. Her hopes and dreams and love shine through her daughters and will for generations to come. Her family and friends will forever delight in her memory and admire her strength and wisdom.
She was preceded by her father and mother; her brother, Sonny; first husband, Richard Holman; second husband George Harpham; a stepson, Chet Harpham; and baby Helen.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Downing and brother, Kenneth Yankee; six daughters, Mary Caporosso, Lucille (Kevin) Peavey, Eileen Robinson, Susan (Richard) Scherzer, Cindy (Fred) Kanthack, and Carolyn (Fred) Proudfoot; a stepson, Jack (Bonnie) Harpham; and one step-daughter, Pat Sayre.
She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly.
Viewing will be held at noon on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, with services following at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery, with a wake to follow at Richard and Susan Scherzer's home, 4965 Sinoloa, off of Oatman Road.
