Letter: Miner makes the naughty list with Santa story

I am saddened over the Santa story that was front page news on Christmas Day. The editor made a poor attempt to warn parents that this would be a sensitive article, placing it next to a big photo of Santa with two boys on his lap.

I'm wondering why the article was even necessary or even considered newsworthy for Christmas Day. Did the teachers that were interviewed know that their words would be on the front page Christmas Day for all their students to read?

There is such sadness in the world that it is important for joy and happiness to be shared with our children as they create lifelong memories of Christmas time. Let our children be innocent and happy for a while.

Furthermore, it is not the responsibility of the newspaper to print whether Santa, the Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy are real or not. I'm very disappointed in the Kingman Daily Miner, and hope for an apology to the readers - especially those with children and grandchildren.

It is such a beautiful time of year that we share with family and friends. Merry Christmas to all and may you all be allowed to hold on to your personal dreams and beliefs.
