Walter Allen Richards Jr. was born Aug. 5, 1936, in New York and passed away on Jan. 12, 2015, at Kingman Regional Medical Center. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical School. Walter devoted his career to working in the electrical field, beginning at NYC Transit Authority. After an honorable discharge from the Army in 1962, he spent the next 11 years working for Long Island Lighting Company. Walter began working for Citizens Utilities in 1974 and after 29 years, he retired in 2003.
He was devoted to and deeply loved and cherished his family. Walter's greatest legacy is his family, who loved him dearly and will miss him. He is survived by MaryAnn, his wife of 56 years; his four children, Kathleen (Pete), Terry (Tonya), Michael and Jodie (Dale); five grandchildren, Steven, Joshua, John, Nicole and Daniel; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Isabella.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2015, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will commence at 6 p.m.
Holy mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church (302 E. Spring St. - Kingman). Graveside services to follow at Mountain View Cemetery (1301 Stockton Hill Road - Kingman).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church's Building Foundation.
