Carol Jean Urquhart left this world to be with God Monday, Jan. 12, 2015. She was 78.
Carol was born in Milwaukee, Wis. on June 14, 1936. She went on to earn a degree at the University of Wisconsin. Her professional life was spent in education. She particularly enjoyed teaching preschool.
In 1967, she married her lifelong love, Norman Nathaniel Urquhart Jr. They raised their children in Kingman. There, Carol became active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Grace Lutheran Church.
After retiring, Carol spent her time quilting, participating in Bible studies, attending the theater, and doting on her grandchildren. She also had the pleasure of traveling to other countries with family members.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Norman. She is survived by her son, Nate Urquhart (Cathy) of Kingman, and her daughter, Cheryl Thompson (Daryl) of Lansing, Mich. She also leaves behind her sisters, Marion, Nirava, and Rose; three grandchildren, Mila, Alexis, and Brayden; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Nate and Cheryl would like to thank Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte, Mich., for the excellent care their mother received in the last days of her life.
A celebration of her life will take place at noon Saturday, Jan. 24, in Grace Lutheran Church, 2101 Harrison St. in Kingman. Carol requested that guests wear bright colors, no black. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to organizations important to Carol: Green Peace, Lutheran Bible Translators, and PETA.
