Boaters stayed dry over long holiday weekend

KINGMAN - No boaters were arrested for drinking while boating on Mohave County waterways over the July 4 weekend, a trend that continues to please the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

There were two boating accidents with no injuries. Eleven safety violation citations were issued and 60 warnings were issued.

One person was arrested on a felony warrant, there was one disturbance, 21 boater assists and five agency assists.

"The Fourth of July weekend was very busy but relatively uneventful," said Sgt. Ed Trafecany. "The trend regarding OUI's and accidents seems to continue to decline. This can be attributed to continued law enforcement efforts and public education."
