Will Golden Valley appeal the ambulance decision?

GOLDEN VALLEY - The Golden Valley Fire District's monthly governing board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Public Safety Training Center, 423 S. Colorado Road in Golden Valley.

This will be the first meeting after receiving an updated ruling on a district-run ambulance service from the Arizona Department of Health Services that said River Medical will maintain its certificate and continue running the only ambulance service in Golden Valley.

The initial decision, which ruled in GVFD's favor, was overturned after the board approved a new budget at their June meeting. GVFD had 35 days from that decision to appeal the ruling, and will have to make a decision on whether or not to pursue it this meeting.

Also on the agenda is a performance review of Fire Chief Tom O'Donohue. The review was placed on the agenda in June by board member Jack Hommel, but was pushed back to tonight's meeting.
