MCSO: Swaying driver helped lead to arrest

KINGMAN - Two Kingman residents were arrested Friday after Mohave County Sheriff's deputies allegedly found alcohol, drugs and paraphernalia in their vehicle.

Andrea Dawn Martinez, 48, was arrested for aggravated DUI - suspended license, aggravated DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 percent and aggravated DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over .15 percent. All are felonies.

The passenger, 37, was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of open liquid container, all misdemeanors.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop at 2:24 a.m. in the 2300 block of Lass Avenue. Deputies said they observed an opened can of beer in the passenger side cup holder and a glass marijuana pipe with residue on the passenger floorboard.

The passenger admitted the beer and pipe belonged to him, said deputies, and he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Mohave County jail.

Deputies questioned Martinez, who advised them that her driver's license was suspended. Martinez was asked to exit the vehicle, said deputies, and was observed swaying as she walked. During conversations with Martinez, she admitted to having two beers earlier, said deputies.

A records check confirmed that Martinez had a suspended driver's license, said deputies, and following field sobriety tests, she was taken into custody and transported to the Mohave County Jail.

An analysis revealed her blood alcohol concentration to be 0.159 percent, said deputies.
