KINGMAN - A Kingman woman who was wanted for taking her two children after signing away custody has been located.

Amber Lee Smith, 34, of Kingman, was arrested Friday evening on a felony warrant for custodial interference issued by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies found Smith and her children at 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 3200 block of Potter Avenue. Smith was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Mohave County Jail.

Smith had signed over her two children earlier Friday to the Department of Child Safety at the department's office. Deputies said that when she left the office, she picked her children up from a residence in Kingman and took them with her.

Shortly after, a DCS worker responded to the residence and learned that Smith had taken the children. Late Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office issued a press release asking for the public's assistance in locating Smith and her children.

An alert also was issued to law enforcement for the trio. When located, the children were in good health and were released to a DCS employee.
