Next go-round with examiner up for approval

Worrell's fee for expert testimony jumps to $350 an hour after contract services

KINGMAN - Mohave County Board of Supervisors will discuss and take possible action at today's regular meeting to extend a contract with Dr. Rexene Worrell of Lake Havasu City for medical examiner services.

The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. in the County Administration Building, 700 W. Beale St.

The medical examiner's contract would be for one final year from July 1 through June 30, 2016.

It would authorize the medical examiner to charge fees as established by the board, and increase the hourly rate for expert testimony after contract services from $200 an hour to $350 an hour.

The contract would include a close-out clause for providing medical examiner services at the county's request for up to 60 days to allow for pending cases to be completed and records transferred to the county at the rate of $14,000 a month.

Other than minor contract modifications, all other terms and conditions would remain the same in their entirety on behalf of the Community Services Department.

In other items on the regular agenda for possible action:

• Accept the resignation of County Administrator Mike Hendrix as employee trustee for SIR (Self Insurance Retention) and EBT (Employee Benefit Trust) boards due to Hendrix no longer being a county employee. He would be appointed as a trustee at large, and Mohave County Finance Director Coral Loyd would be appointed as employee trustee.

• Authorize Mohave County Environmental Rural Clean-Up Enforcement program to offer and advertise a reward of $500 to persons providing information in confidentiality leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for illegal dumping in Mohave County.

The board will hold a public hearing on an amendment to the Mohave County General Plan to change land use designation from low-density residential to general commercial for a parcel in Golden Valley.

The parcel on the northeast corner of State Highway 68 and Kelvin Road would go from agricultural-residential with one-acre minimum lot size to general commercial with highway frontage to allow for development of office and retail uses.
