Golf ball prize donated back to Lions

KINGMAN - Local businessman Jeff Cates won the Lions Club's annual golf ball drop fundraiser Saturday, and he donated his prize back to the club.

The group sold 907 tickets for a pot of $4,535. The fundraiser consists of numbered golf balls being dropped from a utility truck's bucket hoisted 100 feet in the air. The ball landing closest to a marker stake wins.

Justice Court Judge David Huerta judged the ball drop.

Cates' prize was $2,267.50, but he returned it. The Lions Club uses the money for its Eyeglasses for Children program.
