Domestic violence call ends in apparent suicide

KINGMAN - A domestic violence incident turned into an apparent suicide Sunday.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the 3100 block of Northfield Avenue sometime before 8:30 a.m. The caller told dispatchers her boyfriend hit her with a firearm and threatened to kill her as he pointed the weapon in her direction.

Deputies established a perimeter around the home and used their public address system to make contact with the man, 23, from Parker. The woman came out and told deputies the man was still in the home.

A single gunshot was heard at about 8:30 a.m. The Kingman Police Department's explosive ordinance team responded and sent their robot into the home. The robot captured an image of the man lying on the bedroom floor with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Mohave County Medical Examiner took custody of the body and autopsy results are pending.
