KINGMAN - Junior Natalie Casson (Kingman High, 2013) and the LeMoyne College (N.Y.) Dolphins saw their volleyball season come to an end with a 3-1 loss at Adelphi (N.Y.) in the semifinals of the Northeast 10 Conference tournament last week.

Casson recorded a team-high 17 kills in the loss for LeMoyne (20-8, 10-4). The Dolphins hosted their first conference tournament match in 20 years when they beat Saint Rose in the first round.

Casson was named to the NE-10 All-Conference Second Team, the first Dolphin to do so in four years. She finished with a team-high 333 kills this season. She was second with 273 digs and tied for third with 25 aces.

Herrero, NAU miss playoffs

The final game of the year turned out to be a must-win for Northern Arizona (7-4, 5-3), but John Herrero (Kingman Academy, 2013) and the Lumberjacks fell short at Southern Utah, the Big Sky Conference champions, on Nov. 21, 49-41.

Herrero, a 6-feet, 4-inch, 245-pound defensive tackle, recorded four tackles, two for losses, and two quarterback hits in the defeat. He finished the season with 36 tackles, 5.5 for losses, 1.5 sacks, two pass breakups and five quarterback hits.

NAU finished fourth in the Big Sky.
