Virginia "Ginny" Bertholf went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 2 after battling cancer for a number of years. She passed on peacefully at the Joan and Diana Hospice Home in Kingman. She is survived by her nephew, Mark Bertholf of Henderson, Nev., and her sister who lives in Maine.
"Ginny" was born in Morristown, N.J., on Dec. 10, 1928, and enjoyed a long career in physical therapy, culminating with her work as an instructor in physical therapy at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Ginny retired in 1990 and moved to Mohave County in 1992. She was very involved in sports from her student days at Morristown High, and later was a member of the Valle Vista Dart Club and the Golf Club. Ms. Mertholf was a founding member of the Optimist Club, active in the Kingman Social Club and a number of other community activities.
Ginny was a very active member of Kingman Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, Sunday School teacher, chairwoman of the Building and Grounds Committee and Christian Education Director over the years. She will always be remembered for her contribution as a tireless worker in the Good News Club at Manzanita School and her participation on the KPC Chime Choir. Her love of children, her Lord and her church are legendary. She is greatly missed by her family, church family and her friends, but she will be reunited with them when Christ returns.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Kingman Presbyterian Church, 2425 Detroit Ave. The Bertholf family has asked that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Kingman Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Joan and Diana Hospice Home.
