KINGMAN - The Kingman Cancer Care Unit is seeking participants for its 5th Annual "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes" fundraising event on Saturday and registration takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Starbucks on Stockton Hill Road and Kino Avenue.
Cancer survivors, patients, family and friends are invited to participate in the walk that starts at 10 a.m. with speakers and a balloon release at the Bonelli House, 430 E. Spring St., and ends at Redneck's Southern Pit BBQ.
The walk winds through downtown Kingman, with a map that provides information about historical buildings and landmarks along the way.
The $30 registration fee includes a commemorative T-shirt, goodie bag from local businesses and brunch at Redneck's BBQ. A drawing for prizes and a silent auction will be held during the brunch.
The walker who raises the most money will win a prize.
Kingman Cancer Care Unit is run entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds from the fundraiser walk will be used to help Kingman-area cancer patients.
Businesses that donate $100 or more will have their logos on the T-shirts, while those that donate $300 or more will have their logos on T-shirts and advertised on promotional materials and banners displayed during the walk.
