As of July, if our Lake Mohave Ranchos fire department does not get the funding to run, we will close.
I'm writing this because we have mostly senior citizens - we are the small towns of Dolan Springs, Meadview and White Hills up to the Hoover Dam. Lake Mohave Ranchos in Dolan Springs handles all the fires, emergencies and accidents on U.S. 93, Pierce Ferry Road, etc.
Over a million people came through Dolan Springs last year to go to the Skywalk. Tourists from all over the world. Tour buses, Jeep tours, cars, etc. On top of all the people in the towns they serve, our fire department gets overwhelmed and most times does not get reimbursed, especially the accidents on Highway 93.
Who will take care of all of this if Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire Department closes?
Our lives are on the line here. Dry weather is coming and our fire season will be in full swing in July. If there is no funding, that's when the fire department will be closed. Resources are so far away that a medical emergency, an accident, or a fire will be a disaster, not only for our towns, but people coming from all over the world.
Please help us.
