Kingman Steakhouse razed to make room for restaurants

A heavy equipment operator for Lewis Construction knocks down the landmark, but long vacant Kingman Steakhouse building in the Kingman Square shopping center Wednesday morning. Once the debris is hauled away the center’s owner will build a pair of restaurants – including an as-yet unidentified national sit-down eatery. Meanwhile the center – one of the oldest in the city and anchored by Safeway at Stockton Hill Road and Detroit Avenue – will get a $500,000 facelift.
