Carol Allison Lutgen, 87, resident of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. for 34 years, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 at her home in LHC.
She was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Redwing, Minn., to George M. Stickles and Reva K. Scherfenberg. Carol was the seventh child of eight with her brother, David Stickles of Las Vegas being her only living family member.
The family moved to Minneapolis, Minn., while Carol was in high school. She graduated from South High School in June 1946. Meeting the love of her life, Orville F. Lutgen, they were married Jan. 22, 1947.
Carol started working while in high school with “Ma” Bell as a telephone operator in Minneapolis.
After moving to California in 1959, Carol went to work for General Telephone in San Fernando, Calif., 1960-1976. Carol transferred to a warehouse position with General Telephone in Santa Maria, Calif., in 1976, while she and husband Orville lived in Cambria, Calif., and Carol retired in 1980.
Carol was a member of the Anthem Club in the San Fernando, Calif., Elks Lodge for many years, then transferred to the Santa Maria Lodge when she and husband Orville moved to Cambria. Upon retiring and moving to LHC, she joined the LHC Elkettes. She held all Elkettes officer chairs and was nicknamed “Mother Superior” as she was president several years and very organized. For years Elks bowling leagues were her passion. She loved playing bingo, bunco, all card games and knitting and crocheting.
Carol is survived by children Vicki Allison Lutgen (Ken) Coombs, of Kingman; Kimberly Coombs Medieros (Patric), of Kingman; Aaron, Britney, Michael and Christopher; Kristi Coombs Scroggins (Donnie), of Kingman; Sierra Hans and Eric Hans, Thomas Allen Lutgen (Paula), of Lake Havasu City;, Christopher Lutgen (Ashleigh), of Lake Havasu City; and Joey, James, George and William, Tommy Lutgen (Missy), of Lancaster, Calif., Seth, Evan and Cali.
Carol was preceded in death by Baby Lutgen (1952), great granddaughter Ashleigh Christian Hans (1990), her husband of 64 years, Orville F. Lutgen (2011); and her parents, five brothers and one sister.
