KINGMAN – Police officers arrested an Illinois man at 10 a.m. Friday on felony charges of transportation of marijuana for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop.

Information was received about a suspicious vehicle possibly transporting marijuana. Officers stopped that vehicle on Interstate 40 at milepost 53.

The officers contacted the driver, Tony Sam, 26, of Chicago, and deployed Kingman Police Department’s K-9 Sam, who alerted to the odor of an illegal substance.

That resulted in the seizure of approximately 66 pounds of marijuana. The investigation revealed that Sam was transporting the marijuana from Sacramento, Calif., to Chicago, the KPD said.

Samwas booked into the Mohave County jail.
