Doris Eleanor Blakley passed away at Kingman Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at the age of 81 while recovering from surgery to repair a broken hip that resulted from a fall at her home in Yucca.
Doris is predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Rose Cole, her sister Charlotte, and her brothers, Robert and John.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ira Thomas Blakley. They were married at Scott AFB in Belleville, Ill., on May 10, 1953.
Doris is lovingly remembered by her sister, Margaret Mickelson; her oldest daughter, Terry L. Moss and her husband, Bruce; her son, Thomas C. Blakley and his wife, Jackie; and her youngest daughter, Rosalie D. Blakley. Doris leaves her legacy of a growing family extending to five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Doris was born in Mora, Minn., on Jan. 5, 1934. She graduated from high school and joined the United States Air Force where she met and married the love of her life, Ira. She then left the military and spent the rest of her life in support of Ira's career until his retirement to Arizona in 1977.
Doris then became very active in her community by serving as secretary/treasurer to the Yucca Fire Department. She also served many years at the polling booth on Election Day.
Per Doris' request, there will be no visitation or funeral services prior to or following her cremation. Her final resting place will be in Cave Hill Cemetery in Cave-In-Rock, Ill., which she considered to be her beloved family homestead.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her name. Condolences to Doris' family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
