KINGMAN - Senior Desirae Gonzalez scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her eighth consecutive double-double and 14th on the season to lead the Kingman High girls basketball team to a 41-36 win over Estrella Foothills in Goodyear Friday.

No. 7 Kingman (12-0, 3-0) trailed 28-23 at the half, but outscored No. 20 Estrella (9-5, 1-2) 18-8 in second half to earn the Division III, Section VI victory.

Kim Carroll scored eight points and hauled in eight rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Makenna Taylor contributed five points and three steals, and Cheri Roundy added four points.

Gonzalez also had seven steals for Kingman.

Kingman hosts Youngker (9-4, 1-1) in Section VI action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Buckeye 43, Lee Williams 20

At LWHS, the hard-nosed pressure defense of Buckeye (10-3, 2-0) seized control in the second half and the Hawks beat Lee Williams in a D-IV, Section VI game, 43-20. The Lady Vols had 53 turnovers in the loss.

Lee Williams (6-6, 1-1) stayed close with No. 17 Buckeye but still trailed at the half, 23-16. However, it was all Hawks in the second as Buckeye outscored the Lady Vols, 20-4.

The win leaves Buckeye as the only other unbeaten team in Section VI beside Kingman, and the Lady Vols are tied for third.

Marli Lauck led Lee Williams with five points. Madi Arave and Sadie Snay each scored four, Chania Scott added three, and Mya Radler and Courtney Janney finished with two.

The Lady Vols rebounded well, pulling down 45 boards. Radler had 11 and Scott 10.

Lee Williams plays at Kingman Academy (1-11) in a non-section game at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Youngker 5, Kingman 0

At YHS, the No. 2 Lady Roughriders sped past Kingman (1-8-1, 0-4-1) in a D-IV, Section I match, 5-0.

Lady Bulldogs keeper Desi Lammers had 12 saves in the loss.

Kingman hosts River Valley at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a non-section contest.
