Interdiction efforts lead to state recognition for MAGNET

KINGMAN - Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET) was recognized for "Outstanding Task Force - Interdiction Effort" at a ceremony July 12 in Flagstaff.

The MAGNET interdiction group consists of five law enforcement agencies within northwestern Arizona: Kingman Police Department, which is the lead agency, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Mohave County Sheriff's Office, Lake Havasu City Police Department and Bullhead City Police Department. The interdiction group consists of AZ DPS Troopers and a Mohave County Sheriff's Deputy. In 2015, the MAGNET interdiction group conducted numerous interdiction efforts that resulted in the following combined seizures:

• 1,150 lbs. of high grade marijuana originating in Northern California.

• $77,996 in U.S. currency.

• 39 lbs. of methamphetamine.

• 7.4 lbs. of cocaine.

• 2.5 lbs. of hashish.

• In Transit Marijuana Grow Operation.

• 78 drug-related arrests.

• 3 fraud interdictions with seizure of over 200 fraudulently produced credit cards.

The commitment of these agencies working together to form the MAGNET task force highlight what can be accomplished when multiple agencies work together in a task force environment.
