KINGMAN - Four engines responded to a pair of large haystack fires the afternoon of May 28.

Crews responding to what they thought was a brushfire arrived at Stockton Hill Hay and Feed at Stockton Hill Road and Sierra Vista to discover the fire had moved into two large stacks of hay and threatened several buildings.

High winds created a fast-moving blaze. Crews attacked it by using a water cannon and hand lines and the city's Public Works employees used heavy equipment to spread out the hay and make it easier to douse.

Crews spent two hours working the fire, which investigators deemed suspicious. Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the fire department at 928-753-2891 or the Kingman Police Department at 928-753-2191.
