KINGMAN - The Golden Corral might turn into the OK Corral Wednesday when candidates for the hotly contested state Senate and House race meet under one roof for the June meeting of the Mohave Republican Forum.
There's bad blood between Rep. Sonny Borrelli and former state Sen. Ron Gould. The Lake Havasu City Republicans hope to fill the District 4 Senate seat that Kelli Ward vacated in December in order to campaign full time against U.S. Senator John McCain.
While both men have claimed to be the more conservative, next week's meeting in Kingman will allow them to bring their message to voters.
Meanwhile, Rep. Gina Cobb, Kingman; Jennifer Jones, Quartzsite; Sam Medrano, Bullhead City; and Paul Mosley, Lake Havasu City, all Republicans, also will address the crowd in an effort to land one of two District 4 House seats.
Cobb has two terms under her belt. Jones is a perennial candidate and Medrano is a former Bullhead City Council member. Mosley is a newcomer to the political scene.
Forum Vice President Richard Basinger said the candidates will discuss important topics, such as the restoration of Highway User Revenue Funds, Second Amendment issues, education funding and "many social issues affecting people, animals, economic well-being and quality of life."
The meeting room at the restaurant, located at 3580 Stockton Hill Road, should be open by 4 p.m. and the program should begin at about 5:30 p.m. There is a $2 charge and dinner is on you.
