Letter: Airport Authority still leaving pilots hanging

Just another follow up concerning the Kingman Airport and Industrial Part. As in the past few months, the Airport Authority hasn't said or done anything productive towards the general aviation pilot. It is still dragging along with no improvements. The access to the bathroom after hours at the old restaurant is still not done. The AA promised it would install a security door with code access for pilots using the airport after hours when the restaurant is closed. The A.A. said this last year that it was working on having a security door installed. It's another lie.

Any time after 2:00 p.m., if you stop at Kingman Airport and need to use the restroom, guess what? No bathroom other than a porta-potty. How primitive is this? But you can be assured the hangar rent continues to escalate at a 6-percent increase every year.

Now ask yourself this: Why would the AA tear down a perfectly good functioning building that was being used for a pilots lounge and rest room with all the amenities - showers, etc., - and build a $1 million building for a mere very few employees? This is your present A.A. at its best!

What a disgrace to the city of Kingman and its very good people living here. By the way, the hangar rent at the airport is well over $300 a month, the highest in the entire area. Somehow I get the feeling the AA doesn't want any general aviation at Kingman Airport, which is such a tremendous loss. General viation contributes well into the mega-billions of the U.S. economy.
