KINGMAN - Flattery might not get you anywhere, but attempted bribery of a detective will get you arrested.
That's the lesson Brandon Lewis St. Ours, 31, of Kingman learned after he allegedly attempted to bribe Mohave County Sheriff's detectives assigned to the multi-agency Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team. The incident reportedly occurred after St. Ours was arrested on drug charges Wednesday in the 1900 block of Thompson Avenue at about 5:30 p.m.
Sheriff's office spokeswoman Trish Carter said St. Ours "tried bribing detectives to avoid going to jail."
The incident began when detectives allegedly watched St. Ours toss a methamphetamine pipe as he approached them while riding a bicycle. A search allegedly revealed he possessed a plastic bag containing roughly one gram of a white crystal substance.
St. Ours was taken into custody without incident, until he was on his way to jail and allegedly offered the bribe, the specifics of which Carter did not explain. St. Ours faces felony charges of bribery, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
